Happy Mother’s Day Eve! Yes, the day is tomorrow and hopefully you’ve found a special way to show Mom how much you care… and aren’t running around in a crazed panic right now because you’ve forgotten (poor Mom)! However, if that is the case- or if you’re just crafty and would like to make a really cool DIY gift that is great for any Mom- you’ve come to the right place.
This really great and simple DIY vintage picture frame bracelet would make an excellent gift for mom, grandma, or just about anyone else (including yourself). The idea comes courtesy of Maize Hutton, a Washington state-based artist whose website is full of cute DIY projects with instructions.
To make, just take an old wristwatch (that you own, picked up at a yard sale or on Ebay) and polish it up with a paste of baking soda and water. Then print up a picture of whomever you think Mom would like to look at all the time (a grandkid, perhaps?)- printing the little picture in black & white is a great touch that adds to the vintage feel. Then just pop off the back of the watch, cut the picture to fit, and replace the back. That’s it! Then just wrap it up pretty and you’re all set with a great personal gift.

It seems like a lot of people are making blankets out of old baby outfits lately, or at least attempting to. And why not, when it’s such a great way to preserve the memories of your little one at their littlest? It’s so much more creative than just saving treasured outfits in boxes where no one can see them. That’s why I was excited to find this kit, which includes a template and detailed instructions- giving me hope that maybe I could tackle a project like this without screwing up and destroying my son’s little clothes I love so much. Um, yay!
The kit comes with everything you need (sans your special fabrics) to make a great quilt yourself, including white minky squares, hanging loops, batting, backing, and even pins. A great weekend DIY project, right?

Arbor Day falls on the last Friday of April and what a great opportunity for kidlets to learn about growing plants and trees! Planting and caring for trees is a wonderful way to introduce the importance of our environment and is a great activity day for the kids.
You can head down to your local nursery (the garden variety, that is, not the baby nursery) and pick out a small tree for your kidlet to plant and watch grow over the years. Or you can order one of DuneCraft’s very cool growing kits for a very reasonable price. Choose from a variety of unusual plants, like the Dinosaur Plant, which can live up to 50 years without light or water!
Whichever way you choose to acknowledge Arbor Day this year, be sure to take advantage of the learning opportunities for your kidlet and BE KIND to our Earth!
